Hi there.
I tried looking through the picture guide but no luck. Maybe I just don't know what I am looking for.
Anway, your help is much appreciated!

B. histrionica, B. rostrata, B. almorhae, and B. kubotai all look relatively similar when they are quite small. How big is this loach? Given that the bands extend onto the caudal fin, I'd say B. histrionica, but that is a guess.
If the loach is still small (I assume it is), then it may be a game of wait and see.

Good point, Adamrf1126. It could also be B. dario. I think the point is that you should keep this little fish and feed it up and post more photos as you go.

thanks.
i think it may not be a dario though because the stripes seem too far apart and it doesnt have any of that yellow color.
I would lean more towards a histrionica that has not yet fully developed its markings.
But only time will tell i guess

The colors should brighten up once he settles in. Let him get comfortable and then you'll have a better idea. Even then, though, it's a crap shoot until he/she get's a bit older.
Do you have any other similar species or is he the lone botia?

He was labled as a Clown Loach and was the only loach to be found in the entire fish department.
Since I can't find any more of his type, I was wondering... will a clown loach accept a histrionica loach as a friend?
