Funny Skunk Loach

No question, just a funny observation. :)

I have one flat piece of bogwood propped against the side of a tank. I have managed to coax the java moss to grow on this bogwood. I have one skunk loach that wiggles itself flat on the bogwood pinned between the bogwood under the java moss and lays there flat against the bogwood. There are lots of shelters in the tank including a piece of bogwood with holes, but this skunk likes to lay on the bogwood. I originally thought it was getting tangled in the moss but then realized it was doing this on purpose. He's not being chased. Just swims over there, wiggles under the moss and rests on his side.

I also have a few Yasuhikotakia morleti who like to lodge them selfs into pieces of wood. I haven't a clue as to why they do it but they seem fine and act with this as normal behavior.

These little chaps chose their own.....

I've got a botia dario that wedges itself up in a long piece of drift wood. Never has a problem getting out when its dinner time.

Kevin

You are absolutely correct, Helen, no way I can take a picture. Here are my best attempts. :) Then he bolted. He didn't like his hidey hole so closely inspected.

Note the whiskers -- there's a loach in there.

Note the eye and the stripe -- he's a skunk!

The pictures look horizontal. But actually he's nose down at about 45'. :)

I think they were good pictures, I could see everything!

My dojos tangle themselves up in the plants also. I love watching the antics.

Need more loaches...

ive got a histrionica that wedges herself up the side of the internal filter,
but there's loads of nooks and crannies for her to go to.
she's there now as i'm writing this.

One of my rostratas prefers to line up inside the shaft of a tall saggitaria plant squeezed between the lower leaves. Can't even see her when she's in there.

One of my kubs has a vertical crack in bogwood where it rests. Sometimes head up and sometimes head down. Often it seems to peek out to keep an eye on what's going on around it, and if another kub comes around it comes out and chases them off. Pretty funny to watch.

Haha, this thread made me chuckle. My kubotai do the same thing. Like Mick's histrionica my kubs wedge themselves between the powerhead and the glass, it's their favorite spot.
