River tank *Picture heavy*

Well tonight I finally decided to stop being so lazy and do the river tank that I had been planning to do for some time. Proir to this I just had an old 4ft with a couple of good strong internals, not much effort put into decor or such.
Theres still a bit to do mind, the internals will eventaully be swapped for powerheads, but they are an online order only

So here is the final product of an evenings hard work

The tank itself is 50 us gallons, home to a shoal of Puntius denisonii, various Sinibotia and numerous Acanthocobitis botia , theres a few unidentified Schistura mixed in somewere as well.

The only stock I could get pictures of was the Acanthocobitis botia , two of which started to act most odd, not to sure if its a dominance disagreement or what as one of the involved was my (what I think is) largest female who has always been some what fiesty with the others.
So these two turned the most intense red (camera did not pick it up as strongly as it was), around the barble/mouth area, pectorals, dorsal and tail. Be haviour was most odd :? nipping at the dorsal and chasing in very tight circles. Anyway pictures

Just need to wait on those plants filling out a bit now..... :D

Ashleigh, i think your acantho's are rubidipinnis,
count the dorsal rays if theirs 14 then they are.
btw it's gonna look good when it's settled and the waters cleared, nice job.

You could run an excellent 'guess the caption' competition, especially with the last photo!

Looks fantastic :D

Your hard work paid off Ash, the tank looks great! 8) There have been shipments of A. botia, A. rubidipinnis and A. urophthalmus doing the rounds over the past few months.

Grosnver tropics in Northern Ireland :D £1.20 a piece, I couldn't resist  . Mick you're right, just had a count of one of the old pic's; 14 rays, they are A. rubidipinnis.

Thanks Emma :D fish seem to have settled in well, the Puntius denisonii are looking a heck more relaxed now and have coloured up nicely, seems a minimal look doesn't suit them

Emma, do you have any A. rubidipinnis in or Sinibotia still :?:

I think we may have a few A. rubidipinnis left, will have to check and let you know. Definitely still have plenty of Sinibotia in, I ordered a large number of them that last time.

I like the rock layout. A little something for everyone: rounded rocks, layers of rock that make caves, sloped rock to re-direct the water flow...
