im thinking about putting my Kuhli Loaches in my Ram breeding tank.

its a 10 gallon tank that will only be used part time for when my Rams decide to spawn again, and then used to grow out the fry

how are Kuhli's with eating eggs? do they still?

If so, no problem.. but after the fry have grown a little and are eating BBS, would I be able to put them in then?

anyone able to offer some advice, or experience?

I would not risk it. Kuhlies, like most Loaches are accustomed to eating just about any little bite of protein they find on or near the floor of the tank. While the Rams will try to protect eggs and fry, I would still be afraid of losses.

For dithers with Rams try some of the smaller Tetras, Rasboras or similar fish.

in my main tank, the 35 gallon i have a school of 6 glowlight tetras

just was wanting to keep something in my 10g because its all set up ready to go for Ram spawning, but it bugs me to have an empty tank! :D

My kuhli's have been known to eat swordtail fry. I lost at least two batches to them. I would advise against putting kuhli's in any tank that is going to contain fry, if you care about the fry.

absolutely i care about the fry. its been a journey with my blue rams to find a pair, so im basically catering to them.

I sure like the Kuhlis though! they can stay in the 35g and be fine in there.

thanks!

Hi,
I agree with the other.
Kulies do like to eat. And fish eggs seem to be one of their favorite with me. They are always eating my Rainbow eggs.

I would not place Kulies in a 10 gallon anyway. Because they like some room to swim and I find that because of their size and speed at which they can swim at they tend to bang in to the glass and get very edgy..
