Tempted By Lonely Hillstream Loach at LFS

The other day when I visited my LFS, I saw a Hillstream Loach. He was so small and he was all by himself. The staff were calling him a Sting Ray Pleco, but I knew right away he was a Hillstream Loach. When I inquired further about him, one of the girls told me he's been there for 6 months or longer, and that no-one ever buys him. I told her I regretted not having the right set-up, otherwise I would take him home, and she replied that he doesn't seem to be going anywhere, so if I want him anytime in the near future he will most likely still be there.
So here I start to wondering, if his best chance would be here with me. I wonder if anyone else nearby might be able to take care of him properly, and now I'm more determined than ever to get some current going in my tank....

Good evening,
I live in Regina and am always on the lookout for Hillstreams. I have a couple river tanks up and running presently. What species is this fish? Was it healthy? What store is it in and where? Thanks.

Hello..,
Pleased to see a Loach enthusiast close to home!
The little Loach was in The Confederation Mall location of Pet Land in Saskatoon. He looked healthy though very small, not much more than two inches. When I was there, he was on the front glass, so it was difficult to get a good look at him. From what I could see, he was a light golden base colour with a fine dusting of round light brown spots all over. I looked over the species pictures in the Loach book, and he looks the most like either Sewellia or Beaufortia, though there are many more species than just in the book, so it could be hard to tell. The girl I talked to has worked there for some time, and she says he has been there for a long time. It would be nice if he could find a home.
I wasn't sure if I should post this story but now I'm glad I did. Sorry I can't give you a positive ID. Being a lover of Loaches, I know how hard it can be to find them sometimes. I am making plans to convert my tank into a River tank, but it will take money and time.
