A friend of mine just bought 4 clowns and it’s there 4th day in the tank and they are still hiding, they are eating, and they have 10 guppies as dither fish...any ideas?

I also asked this over in the fresh water forum but how long can you keep a piece of shrimp in a tank before it should be taken out?

depending on many factors the clowns may take some time to adjust, but those to look at are:

1. ample hiding spots
2. lower lighting levels
3. lots of current
4. location,, it tank is in a high traffic area it may take a bit before they are comfortable.
5. time,, over time they will become brave :0

I sometimes drop shrimp in at bedtime for my catfish and plecos,, if there was anything left over I would take it out in the morning... i do this with cubumber rinds, left over oranges, green beans, and the like.
