Ok outside the obvious, I know I have to tear down my new 90 gallon tank that I have yet to show you guys pictures of this beautiful creation !
The tank is leaking in the front right corner as it sits on the cabinet !
What is the process for making the repair once the tank is emptied of the contents ?
Thanks Everyone

if i have a leak rather than find where the precise place is, i strip all the silicone inside of the tank, then reseal it with fresh silicone.
the new silicone will push itself into where the leak is and it will give you another 10 years of leakfree times with the tank.

Speaking of leaks...
Is there about an average life span of a fish tank, as far as the silicone goes? I've noticed some bubbling or pitting in our silicone. The clowns also like to seem to pick at it from time to time.
I have an All-Glass aquarium that's about 5 years old.

it depends on a number of factors, if the tank has been left dry for a long period, if it's been moved recently.
but if its stayed in the same position wether it needs renewing or not i do the tanks every 5 yrs for my own piece of mind.

Also, larger tanks seem to stress the silicone more than smaller tanks and age faster.

Well, I guess we'll have to start planning to do a reseal this summer then. We have a 46 gallon, so I think if we split the fish up into (2) 10 gallon tanks, they should be alright for a couple days.
I would rather go through the hassle of doing that, then having a leak while living in an apartment no less.
Thanks for the advice,
Kelly
Thanks to all of you who volunteered your help to me !

I solved the problem with the leak i found out after careful observation that the leak was on the top edge of he tank in one corner ! I reduced the water level and that solved the problem till i can tear it completely down and repair the entire top edge around the plactic frame on the inside.
My friend Diana you are always a wealth of information as always.
Thanks to each and everyone of you wonderful people !

I have a 20 that leaks that way: If it is too full the water is seeps up under the rim, then drips down.
I have usually had hard water fish in this tank, and the side where the 'leak' is usually shows a white crust where the water dripped then evaporated.
