I'm doing some research for a tank I hope to start in a few months time.
I was thinking of adding a group of 6 or so sid's to populate the bottom segment of the tank. Clear up fallen food n such.
Now I've been reading here they can be quite mean towards some other fish.
Would they clash with a group of otocinclus?
Or a small group of tateurndina ocellicauda?

We have both. The Sids do like to chase other fish, but I haven't ever seen them bothering the Otos -- they like the big free-swimming fish more, I think.

Thanks for the reply.
It's good to know they will leave the otos alone but I think maybe I won't get any sids if they are such bullies to other fish.

I haven't noticed them really bullying, they don't fin-nip, they just sort of chase. I think like a dog that chases cars but wouldn't know what to do if it caught one....

My otos used to try to shoal with the sids sometimes, no harm

Or like a little kids trying to tag along with the big lids...

Yes, it is funny to see the sids shoaling with the otos!

Out of necessity we recently had some otos in a high-flow hill-stream type q-tank. They were so funny -- like kids at a water park. Who'd a thunk that Otos would like so much flow!

Agreed. I've had several groups of sids...all with otos and never a problem. I've never had them get obnoxious with any fish and I've kept mostly peaceful schoolers with them, including Rasbora maculata.
