This may show sexual dimorphism in horsefaced loaches - who can say? The pair are from the same batch, picked up about two years ago (maybe more?), and the larger was the one that was gravid six months ago. Nothing came of it, sadly - but who would know if there were tiny horsies in that gravel?
They do this all the time. They'll lie on the surface and stare out, waiting for the tiniest movement, which sends them back underground - poof! I'm happy to get ANY shots of them at this point.

wow she's fat

How long are they Mark?
I can't wait for mine to grow but I like that he's young and more active too. I really enjoy watching him sift sand.
I think I might get another one now.
all the pictures around are corrupting me into wanting more loaches.

They're close to the same length - I'd say about four 1/2 inches, maybe 5. I find that pretty hard to judge and they're not liable to stay still for a ruler. But they're both very active and agile.

It's kind of cute, I hope. They seem really happy to be together. They will lie one across the other at times, so they are at least happy with the present company. They come out for feeding times in the morning and at night. If they're happy, I'm happy.

What absolute beauties!

In my opinion, the fact that they are close to the same length, but the body shape is so
obviously different, (especially after you having them in your care for some time) would be indicative to you having a pair.

Superb couple!

I do hope in a few months you will be seeing little 'wrigglers'
Great pictures also!

A beautiful couple indeed.
Do I see an orange tint to the lady's belly, or is it just a reflection?
