I am looking for a sours to get some Hillstream Loaches. Does any body know where I can get some?

Of course the first thing is to see if a local fish store can get them, but if that doesn't work, there are some online sources.

Unfortunately, they do not seem to have much available, as far as hillstreams, right now. But you should keep checking these sites. I have heard good things about them.

Hi Jim. I just read that you where one of the few people who have been able to get them breed. Do you have any available? Also what did you use as your substrate in your breeding tank?

Jim also in the tank where you bread them did you have more than one type or multiple. Which type did you successfully spawn?

There have been several others who post on the site, who have been fortunate enough to have their hillstreams spawn, too.
The first species that I had spawn was Psuedogastromyzon cheni, followed by Liniparhomaloptera disparis. Both were kept in the same tank and spawned at the same time. The substrate was the standard size aquarium gravel. Since then, I have also had Sewellia lineolata spawn.
At this time, I don't have any extra babies. The chenis and disparis are all gone, and I only have one tank spawned Sewellia.
My Sewellia breeders are in a tank with danios, chelas, white clouds and lots of shrimp, so I don't get many surviving eggs. I do have one small one now that is about .5 in. (1cm) long, but I want to keep him.
Its too bad you weren't interested a few years ago. When I had the chenis and disparis, I was over run with babies!
Also, I just remembered there is someone out of Columbus, Ohio who sells some fish online. He tends to have tank bred Sewellia linoelata, but unfortunately, I don't recall his web address. I do think he sometimes sells them on Aquabid, so you might want to check there.

They also have sewellia lineolata & borneo suckers-a mixed bag of gastromyzon sp. You can contact them directly at.. aquabid@wetspottropicalfish.com for a list. I've had good luck buying form them.

Thanks for your time and response Jim. At this time I am really interested in the Sewellia lineolata and the Sewellia sp. "Spotted". Which one of those did you get to spawn? Since it is OK to keep multiple types in the same tank and still have them breed I will more than likely keep both of them. I will be placing them is a 50 gallon breeder river tank with the base dimension 36"x18". How many at adult size can I keep in the tank?

I have both species of Sewellia, but the lineolata are the ones that have spawned. Unfortunately, I only have one Sewellia sp. "spotted", that I got as a contaminant in a shipment of lineolata. Hopefully, I will find another in time.

Yea, I have contacted Brian and he said that they have not bread for him in quite some time so he dont have any.

Don't know much about it, but they have a few hillstream loaches on their list. Unfortunately, they don't have many available right now. That seems to be the case with most of the online fish sites. But I would keep checking. I have checked this site from time to time, and hadn't in awhile. Wouldn't you know it that sometime between the last time I checked it and now, they got Liniparhomaloptera disparis and are now out. I have not seen those around in years and would love to get some and breed them again. My last one died a few months ago.
They do have Gastromyzon ctenocephalus, now, though.

I found a well know local pet shop by me that has some in stock for a good price. They are known to carry rare fish. So the search is over. Thanks for all your help.
