This Loach addiction is getting out of hand!! There's me just going by my business and stopped at a lfs for some frozen foods. Wife and kids waiting in the car, as i would only be 5 mins. *cough*







I purchased a group of 6.

Arggh... the other Polka-Dots. Nice guys, congradulations.... I wish I could find some. Most LFS' around are blissfully devoid of anything one would consider buying...

(IMHO, small schisturoids are the best fish -- tend to be healthy, don't get crazy diseases, don't hurt other fish, and provide a lot of entertainment for the size.)...this are about 1.5", right?

Its nice to know I am not the only weak person around.
I love corica. They are a nice little loach. I haven't seen them in a bit, though.

They looked a bit skinny at first, but with some feedings of Blood's and brine shrimp, they are now a proud owner of a 'pot' belly.

Beautiful additions. What size tank have you got them in? I'd be very interested to know how you go with a small group of these. Whenever I've had these in in the past, they have been very problematic with each other, to the point of actually really harming and even killing each other. Last time I had to separate them all into individual tanks. Of course it may just be that the stock tanks are relatively small, but other Nemachiline species seem to get on ok in the same amount of space.

Just the puritan in me talking, but Balitoriine - or Nemacheiline - is preferable to "schisturoids". Sorry to mention it, even.

Use of Balitoriine with either a (more usual) single or (as you suggest) double i was inconsistent with the sentence where the word was used. Nemacheiline is indeed a more appropriate term if one must stick to the scientific terminology. Given that the use of a scientific term was not required in the context, but only to express the admiration for the new Graeme's water-dwelling vertebrates with gills, I opted for a hopefully transparent neologism.

Relations with 'bank' manager is good at the moment.

Now that the honeymoon period is over, i certainly see what your mean, Emma. I have them in with other Nemacheilus and more of the peaceful Schistura's in a 39gal. I might separate them into two groups of three and put them into the two river tanks. Or three groups of two. I'll give them a little more time for now and see how they settle..
