The one thing I did notice is your fish have a really dark base colour ,almost black where my own Striata seem more brown ,could it be the lighting or are they pretty dark :?:

Are these your only Botia's/loaches or do you have others :?:

Fabulous pictures and truly beautiful fish - there is a striking effect but also exquisite detail to the patterns and colour combinations.

A real treat to see. Many thanks.

I think the environment (dark when I was taking the shots) and flash are responsible. The flash increases contrast a bit. In other words, if you put them in your tank they would probably look the same as yours. Very occasionally I see two of them havin a standoff and they go v.v.light.

I also have eight Botia rostrata, several kuhlis I only see every few months, a Homoloptera tweedii that lives in the bubble curtain on the back glass and a few Gastromyzons in the pond. Loaches are my 'second' love after catfish. Hope that didn't upset anyone :>

Wow your from australia! I didn't know there were any Aussies on the forum. WHERE DID YOU GET THE ZEBRAS AND ROSTRATAS? I am quite keen on purchasing them but have never ever seen them and my lfs told me I can't get them in aus.

I've only seen zebras once (for sale) and I bought them all. You can still see them in display tanks sometimes labelled 'NFS'.

There are still a bunch of rostrata in a local LFS, they also had a few kubotai a while back.

The rules about what is allowed in are tightening up so they will become less and less common here.

Possibly the LFS ordered pakistani loaches and got rostrata... no idea.

Yea pretty awesome. I might ask my lfs to order these cool loaches from a Thai exporter and the zebras might get through as clowns :D
