I just got a new species of Sewellia that is being sold in the trade as Vietnamese Porcupine Loach or (incorrectly) Sewellia breviventralis. They are a very large and outgoing species with markings that look like snakeskin.
Here is a link to a pic.

I only got two...for now. They appear to be a male and a female. I would love to have a tank full of these guys. They are very bold, active and they are huge! Both are about 3" long!

If they are male and female, you are sure the one to get them to make some little ones.

Some of the online fish stores have them so I wouldn't be surprised if you find them on the west coast. I have had many species of hillstreams over the years but have never had any start feeding so soon. They are also among the most entertaining species I have had. I bet a tank full of these guys would be great to watch!

Very nice find Jim!
Good to hear that they are doing so well.
A beautiful very active species, rare to find in the trade.
I also have luck today i found in a mixed shipment a little G.viriosus and a Sewellia that looks like a real S. albisuera.

I try to get pics in the next days.
Now they are in a Q-tank and look healthy, fingers crossed that i also have luck with them.

That's a very nice find, also. I am envious!!
I have a very difficult time finding healthy viriosus.

Very nice!! I really wish I could find some viriosus that would survive more than a day or two. I have one that I have had for about two years. Its eats well but has not grown much. The other three I have found did not last more than a few days even though they looked very healthy.
That S. albisuera is also very nice. Did you find this as a contaminant or are they coming in as full shipments of this species?

It's always the same problem in the LFS tanks, not enough oxygen, to high temperature and much to high bacteria load.
The fish in the wholesaler tanks are mostly healthier.
Unfortunately, it is often too late already.
The Sewellia albisuera come in a mixed shipment with S. sp. spotted and also labeled as spotted.
Some of them look like a crossing between the two species.
Maby they could really be a kind of Parasewellia?
