Loaches Online Forum

I'm getting a shipment of these in on Tuesday! So excited! I've researched them on the internet and here on the site and forums of course. Has anyone in the US gotten these? I'd like to hear more about their behavior. There isn't much written about group size.

I'm getting the last three he has, but he said he would be getting more in.

After some delay, I finally got them in today! Going to have to wait for an opportune moment for pictures though. The little buggers won't hold still. Probably better anyway though; they're still pale from being shipped.

It's odd. They're like dojo loaches, but the size of kuhlis. The largest one is maybe about 4 inches, while the other two are more like 2.5-3 inches.

Looked them up and they sound interesting!

They don't hold still. Like ever. Up here, down there, what's over there, lap time! I'm used to loaches being mostly lazy with some active time in between, but these guys NEVER sit still.

Put them in the big tank. They don't seem like cave fish. They're shoving themselves up in the crinum leaves, following a dojo loach as he does his laps, and coming to investigate as I trim the plants. Definitely not shy, and they're eating everything I put in for them. Wish I had room for about 40 more.

What are their requirements?

Pretty much the same as hillstreams. They need cooler water (I keep mine at 74, which is on the higher end of their spectrum, I think) and a faster flowing, highly oxygenated current. I don't have a river setup for them or anything, but I have two emperor 400s, a bubble curtain, and a powerhead to keep things moving.

I like that they hang out at the top and middle of the tank every once in a while. I don't have a lot of fish that like that part of the tank.

wow this is the first Ive seen of these. Very very cool. I think Im gonna have to have some to go with my gold dojos (I also want some brown dojos too). Where did you come by them?

The pattern, it may be different in each river to which they are inhabited.
