Tank description would be helpful. I've not kept rubros but the rhinos I have kept would eat anything that fit in their mouth. S. percnopterygionus ae pretty small. If the tank is large enough they may be fine?? Sicyopterus will definitely be fine.

Rubros are not too aggressive, some tension between the males is possible, even some fights. Still if the tank is large multiple males is a good idea, displaying to each other is something to see!

I don't keep stiphodons --- since I cannot breed them, it is less interesting for me. Rubros, otoh:

Here are baby rubros video from Sep 1...

and later on:

they are nearly 1" now.... on the border of being sexable.

Keeping rubros with hillstreams should be fine in general... but I don't do this, pretty sure that rubros will do a good job 'ciding hillstream fry. And as for food: I never give rhinogobius prepared food, only frozen and some live. Yes, they will eat flakes (and everything) when really hungry, but seem to live longer and healthier life without.

I am not sure about the rhinogobius as I have not kept them but have stiphodons with my sicyopterus. The sicyopterus are a little rough with the male stiphodons so make sure you have enough room if you get either stiphodons or rhinogobius.

r.zhoui's are very nice (well, all rhinos are :P ) ... you'll love them... but more difficult to breed than rubros.

And you may want to consider 2nd male... they are the most beautiful when showing to each other, and males rarely would bother impressing females... if he is the only one, he owns them anyway, so why bother?

it is R.candidianus... and I'd love to find some too! Sure waiting for pics

I keep R.henchuenensis... very similar to what you are getting... comparing to zhoui and rubros, larger and meaner. They can bite your hand too. :D
