Definitely Loach Lovers here........actually Loachaholics is a better term.
Loach Maniacs......Botia Bonkers....etc, etc.

Well I'm from the UK, but here in Toronto.

Welcome.

Martin.

Hi, I'm new to the forum....
I too love loaches....
I currently have about 15 clowns in my 125 Malawi Community tank.
they range in size from 5 inches to 2 inches

In my 90 Tanganyika community I have 12 Polka dots
Originally I had these guys in my planted tank, but my trumpet snail population was starting to voer run my 90 so I put these guys in there.
They are all nice and fat now and I've noticed their black coloration appear darker....I think they look better this way.

Yesterday at a local auction I purchased 4 Sids for $4 a piece. They are a bit small right now so I have them in a 10 gallon with 5 Albino Bristle noces with Sand substrate.
In doing some research, I find that most of the literture has them in PH of about 6.5
The polka dots and Clowns are in PH's of about 8.2
Has anyone here had them in PH that high and seen an adverse effect to them ? My clowns seem to enjoy the 125 and my friends always marvel at their deep red coloration of them. The black stripes are nice and deep too. As for the Polka dots, I've noticed that their black markings seem to be deeper since I've put them into the 90.

I'm just trying to see if I should be alarmed and moved them to water that is a bit softer.....I plan on taking pictures of them all and posting here....as soon as I figure out how to :)
Any suggested would be great.

Thanks

Welcome 8)
You will likely get some comments regarding water preferences of your loaches vs your africans. don't be discouraged. one thing we all do recognize is that individual experience does vary...

Hello rich and welcome to Loaches Online. Do not worry about the English. We have a truly international membership and are very forgiving when it comes to language. We have a few German speakers here, so if you are lost for a word they may help you out .

If you are addicted to Clown Loaches then you are in the right place. This is the Clown loach addiction support group you need.

Martin.
