The Tank That Came In From The Cold

It snowed here today

Realizing the other day that Winter will be with us soon (didn't think quite that soon!), I decided it was time to break down my algae growing factory and bring it indoors for the winter. The Hillstreams have enjoyed a steady flow of green covered pebbles throughout the summer.

The tank is a 16" cube and a rather nice thing, so rather than just hide it away, I decided this afternoon that I would set it up in a corner of my kitchen that doesn't get used for anything else.

Threw in a nice piece of driftwood that came with the freebie 36" tank I got the other week, some super nice black silica, fine gravel I have owned for years that was spare, a Rena 225 interior power-filter and a Top-Fin 15 HOB filter, few Cryptocoryne, some Rotala..........viola! All bits and pieces that were around (I always have all my HOBs in use, so there's always seeded filters around.)

No idea what I'll put in it yet, but it fills up a dead corner rather nicely 8)

That looks really nice.
Now, it will be interesting to see what ends up in it.
You realize that you are getting as bad as Graeme.

Yeah...I'm kinda leaning in that direction. Would be ideal in that tank. I've been trying to work out what species they are, but I can't match a photograph. I have a feeling that they have a whole lot more colouring up to do.

(We're talking about these gorgeous "Chinese Paradise Fish" at The Menagerie which aren't opercularis or concolor.)

Nice fish.

that's all you need to know :P

I don't know what you can keep it with that it WONT try to kill on you though... If it'll go for something like a Danio...

He has females there too though eh?

Maybeeee one male four females?

With the black gravel and the layout generally it'd look soooooo badass...

Feed em the lionhead food and lots of keratin and astaxanthin and carotene and cyclops etc and they'll be like fluorescent probably...

Great looking little set-up! :D

Some Lepidocephalichthys would look great for the eye's around the substrate.

Great looking tank Martin :)

The only Paradise fish that I have seen here labeled as Chinese Paradise fish were infact Macropodus chinensis they were lovely looking fish as well.

angelfish83......I edited your last post as your "latin" name for the fish was unacceptable on this forum.

Mark.......logically, I would have assumed these were chinensis, but every picture I've seen of that species looks nothing like these specimins at all. Whatever....they are really nice looking fish. They're also evil. Harold watched two tear a danio in two :? . He had to remove all the other species from the stock tank.
