Botia striata

I just bought 5 Botia striata from walmart (i know allot of you despise buying fish from here, but my local walmart takes great care of the fish) they were very healthy and only $3.88 each. I also talked my cousin into 5 of these instead of clown loaches which would get too big for his 55 gallon tank.
How many here keep these fish? I think they are great.

You will enjoy your new fish, without doubt Botia Striata are a great Loach to have and full of charachter. I currently have 8 and they will soon be moving to their own tank and getting some more freinds

Well seeing as you brought it up Graeme they are the Bloodworm pellets that the
Botia Striata's are enjoying, they also enjoy the Squid and Crab & Krill

mine seem to be wary of eating their blue pills in public
but they seem to scoff the bloodworm pellets.
tglassburner i hope you enjoy yours as much as i enjoy mine. they are wonderfull characters.

I have 3 of these little guys and they are so cute and playful. They aren't as shy as the clown loaches, but they do have a favorite corner they play in. When I look into the tank they come out and look back at me. It almosts looks like they are wagging their tails.

if i enjoy them 1/2 as much as i enjoy my clowns it will be money well spent. I was amazed to find out walmart offers a 90 day warranty on all fish they sell
If you don't mind my asking, where did you get this info, and where is your walmart? (for NCIAC data)

I actually did the same thing. They spend 30 days in the Q-tank with Ick preventative and dewormer...
They told me they were giant danios. I didn't correct them.
After I pointed out the dead fish in the other tank, and said that they weren't taking care of them and that I should probably call the health dept, I took the remaining 6 and they gave them for $1.67 each. I gave the manager a piece of my mind and she seemed genuinely unhappy that the person who was supposed to be taking care of them (she was off that day) wasn't. I came back about 3 weeks later and things were spotless.....they seemed to well cared for. This was a new walmart, so at least they seemed respond to my concerns. This is in Shaumburg, IL.
Its been about a month and a half and they seem to be doing great. They love to play in the output from the canister filter and the powerhead...They have exclusive use of the filter return and sneak over in the powerhead when they think the danios won't mind...lol...

they had large signs up stating the 90 day warraty and my walmart is in Chardon Ohio

im glad to hear you saw some improvement in the shop. that is very good news.
its strange how chains of shops can be so different. Emma and Steve's shop is the best, but a few other Maidenhead shops i've been to i wouldnt buy fish from. 90 days is quite good. that does have an exemtion for bad water tests on return of fish though? one supposedly good place near me has no garantee, unless you join the marine fish club. i wont buy fish from their either.
