Loaches Online Forum

I went to the Tennessee aquarium yesterday and while they didn't have much in the way of loaches, they did have some huge B. almorhae. This big one wouldn't come to the front so I couldn't get a good shot but it's good enough to show her girth. I'm guessing she was about 7 inches long.

By she is a fatty isnt she?

Why didnt you buy her, and then you could share some more photo's?

I have heard that they have some very big sids at the aquarium in Newport ,Kentucky, right accross the river from Cincinati, Ohio.

By the way, Ken, how is the Tennessee Aquarium? I have been tempted to go there. Its about 8 hours from me, I think.

I don't think that's fat. I'm pretty sure she's gravid

I really like this aquarium but that's probably because I'm so into the local animals. Much of the freshwater is devoted to North American fish and animals. It's designed really well so it's virtually impossible to miss anything.

The saltwater is OK but nothing special.

It's kind of funny because the first thing you see in the freshwater building are saltwater fish and the first thing you see in the saltwater building are freshwater

Isn't it designed to mimic a rivers course from the mountains to the ocean? I was thinking it starts with a mountain pool full of monster trout.

Well, sort of.
You start in the seahorse room and then take a very long escalator to the top of the building with is sort of a greenhouse/aviary. There are trout and minnows and otters and snakes up there. The building is dominated by 2 huge tanks of which one is saltwater and the other freshwater so whenever you get to the middle, your surrounded by these 2 tanks. They have rooms with swamp creatures and others with stream creatures and lots of turtles mixed throughout.

I've got a bunch of pics so when I get them sorted and cleaned up, I'll post some in the freshwater forum

Hmmm. I don't remember seeing one. I might go this weekend.
They do have some beautiful planted tanks.

This was told to me by someone who had been there about three years ago, so the display may have changed. I think they were in a heavily planted Asian tank.

That could very well be, I dont know much about gravid yoyo's.

She is quite impressive!
