I have a 125 with 5 Clown Loaches from 3 1/2 "- about 7 1/2". I`m getting 4 Discus in July or August can I raise the Clowns temp over the next 2 months from 78f-84f? Would this be too high to keep the Clowns water?

I do not know if it is right, but I do have Clowns, Yoyos and Discus at 82-84*F.
Other fish include Anostomus, Diamond Tetras, Striped Raphael, Neon Rainbow, Farlowellas, SAE, and Brochis splendens.

My Clown tank is at around 83 normally. When I was in England I kept them at 86 so in that regard they're compatible with Discus. The only problem really is that Clowns ought to be kept with more water movement than Discus will be happy with. I've also heard of people saying that their Discus got spooked by being "whiskered" by Clowns and only seemed happy when separated.

yea, i'd stay away from having any loaches (except the kuhli type) in with discus..

discus dont seem to do very well in a high-flow tank, they tend to cower in the corner.. but loaches really enjoy the flow.. i dont think loaches would appreciate being in a low-flow tank either..

Hi MaryJ,

The nocturnal behaviour of the clown loaches will disturb the discus overnight when they are trying to rest. Together with the fact that clowns prefer more water movement, it's really not a good combination in my opinion.

Oh no, well guess it`ll just be a 55 for the Discus. My Clowns will never be moved for any old Discus. :? Thanks bunches for the heads up guys.
