Excellent news re: finding the sids!
I take it from the description 'Roseline Shark' that you mean Puntius denisonii? If so, do you have more than one? It is just that they are a shoaling fish, and like loaches, should be kept in groups.

yes , puntius denisonii. the store had 3 of them, two had tails that looked like they had been bitten off or fungussed off, so i wasnt about to drop $60 on some imperfect fish like that. so yes i only have one, but i have 5 SAE's and 1 flying fox and they all think they are the same fish =\

Congrats! I love my sids. Very different personalities in the 6 I have now than the 2 I had many years ago. Diminutive darlings or tiny terrors? ( a stab? a pack? I believe Mark & Jim said) Maybe I'm starting to see some of that behavior but mine don't have any other fish to harass. The old ones never bothered anyone ever.

Congratulations on your patience (essential) and the price! I've seen them for as much as $29.99 CAD. At $10, you can afford the number you should keep together.

Mine are not aggressive - it may be a matter of tank mates.

Never aggressive, just curious and active. :)

speaking of kubotai's, i was at Petsmart today and they had some kubotais, about 2" for $20! hah! i got mine for 4 or 5$

Thanks for the reassurances, I think it was on petfrd I read sids often were aggressive with corys & maybe others, i.e. split fins. Made me think of others in their new genus with skunks, modestas etc. Mine a still quite small ,1" TL, but have started to establish a hierarchy. One owns the "good" cave that others can't swim past & there was some head to tail flipping with graying- out I hadn't seen before. I've been debating about possible tank mates or keeping the species only. Any suggestions? It's only a 20L. (Guess I won't risk corys, although I had no problems before)

Picked them up for $13 each. Not the cheapest fish, but I've seen them selling for more.

Every time I've seen them in the store they have been around 1". I picked up a pair last year (all I could get), and then six more a week ago. They were all around the same size at purchase.
