Loaches Online Forum

Hi all, just wondering why possibly my loaches aren't enjoying the 'current' in my tank. i have installed a powerful filter that I think is providing a reasonably strong enough current for them. However, since putting this new filter in, I haven't once seen the clown loaches swimming against the current. I have cleared part of the tank to give them good swimming room. The khulies are having a blast though. i have seen several videos on this site showing the clowns swimming against the current really enjoying themselves, and I can't understand why mine aren't. Could it be because I have moved some things around in the tank and that has bothered them. My loaches are looking very healthy and eating well, all other behaviour seems ok, I just would like to see them doing their swim thing. Any suggestions if this is normal would be appreciated. thank you

It is most likely that you have made them unsettled in their environment. This being a temporary matter with you moving or rearranging things.

Nothing to worry about. They will settle back into matters all Loachy!

Yes, I agree with Graeme. Clowns are very sensitive creatures and even just adding more powerful water movement might unsettle them for a while. They will settle though, then you can see this behaviour.

thanks guys. That eases my mind. Would hate to have thought that I have done all I can, other than adding a river tank, to make my loaches feel at home, and they didn't like it. I shall leave the tank alone now, other than water changes and see if that settles them.
