I think I may have Pangio Semicincta. I have included some pictures. Hopefully someone can tell me if I am correct. :?: My Kuhlis have about 12 saddles on their backs.

That looks like a contender for P. semicincta. Might be P. kuhlii. At that point, it would be interesting to know for sure, but their care is pretty much the same. I'm guessing this is P. semicincta.

No, it's a kuhli loach, a member of the genus Pangio.

Go to the LOL species index: http://www.loaches.com/species-index/species-index

And look at all the different kuhli loaches. It will do you some good to at least look at the pictures, newbe007.

Cute little buggers! :)

I'd say P. semicincta. The current taxonomy has P. kuhlii differing from P. semicincta based on where the fish is collected. P kuhlii is collected only on Borneo and nowhere else. P. semicincta is found in several places on the Malayan peninsula and Sumatra. Because it inhabits a more expansive geographic area, P. semicincta accounts for a far larger percentage of the Kuhlis collected and sold in the ornimantal trade. So, at this point whithout knowing the exact origin of a given fish, odds are it's not from Borneo and hence not P. Kuhlii.

The day is not too far off when some ichthio-geneticist will sequence the genome of the different banded Kuhlis an we'll know for certain if the 2 species are indeed separate or genetically identical.

Same with clowns from Sumatra and Borneo!
