I am interested in a loach called a Zodiac~Neomacheilus triangularis. Any info you can share would be great. Do you think I could keep one with 2 Peacock Gudgeon? If not, any other loaches like kuhlis~Pangio kuhlii ?

Sounds to me like keeping it with Peacocks wouldn't be a bad idea, but it would help a lot if you would give us some details about the tank, decor, size, etc.. You'll probably want to keep at least 3 of these as well, thats the magic minimum number for most loach species.

tank size is important for these guys as they need room for their own territory. i have three in a 30 gallon. i have clay pots, driftwood and tons of plants to keep them happy.

How could I create a tank that loaches would be happy in? I have a 10 or a 20L I could set up. As I research more, it appears most loaches like a high flow environment. Are there any plants, {grasses maybe} I could grow in the tank?

What is your light like? I have a low light tank with anubias, java ferns, hornwort, etc. with my batiks. They love it.

I can put any light that would be best, this is still the planning phase.

if you go for the 20 long, a standard strip light will be great for anubias, moss and ferns. It will give you 1.5 wattss a gallon. Make sure to get plenty of hiding spots like caves, rocks and driftwood too, so they can establish their territories.

So..I see now, Batik & Zodiac~one & the same, correct? Are they aggressive? How do I make the flow high enough, a powerhead would work? Do you have any pics? Are they as pretty as the picture above?

Yep, they are that beautiful. Batiks and zodiak are all Mesoneomacheilus triangularis. A power filter and a powerhead will be good. I have had mine for 2 years now and i personally do not use powerheads in their tank. They like it just fine though. The females even fill up with eggs sometimes, thats how i know they like it.

Do you keep other types of loaches in the same tank? Do they really grow to only 2.5"?

actually iam a member on that site as clownloachfan. If you look to the side and look at the proposed profile changes, you will see a ton of them for zodiac loaches. I have rewritten that info there as it is slightly incorrect. It just needs to be approved. Here is what i had to say

yes they stay small. They will be fine with other loaches to, just dont keep them with a bunch of other noemacheilus or similar looking fish.

The other type of loach I really want to have is the striped Kuhli. Would they be ok together? I love Kuhlis..

With regards to the Mesonoemacheilus triangularis, they are a 'brook loach' species and as such do best with a good current. Kuhli loaches (Pangio sp.) are best kept in much calmer environments, so these two types are not a good mix.
