An update...

Post by JonRead »

Hi all,

Just a quick update.... unfortunately the second sick clown didn't make it, despite putting up a good fight. All the anti-bacterial meds just weren't enough to save him.

The good news is that the medications (Interpet no. 8 and Melafix) seem to have helped halt the problem in my main tank. I've had no more infections for a week now, so fingers crossed.

Total loss was 2 clowns, one betta, one danio and an amano shrimp (possibly unrelated...). I now also have some Myxazin and have found a source of Neomycin in the UK (Seachem Neoplex, available from many online shops), so am ready for if this does reoccur!

Thanks again for all your help, I'm sure following your advice has helped stopped what I think was a pretty nasty strain of flavobacterium columnare.

Sorry the clown didn't make it Jon, but I'm glad you seem to have stopped it from spreading. And thanks for the update.

Hope your new year is a healthy one. 8)

Jon

sorry to hear of your losses. it is good to see how you have done lots of reseach. your vet sounds helpfull. my local vet laughed at me when i rung about fish  i hope all the other fish are doing well.

i will confess to being one of the annoying people who will go into a maidenhead aquatics and stare into the loach tanks for ages, and then tell the poor staff "i want that one!" good places will always do their best to get the exact fish.
