Y. Sidthimunki & Y. Nigrolineata genus?

Anyone else heard or seen what is going on with these two. A study suggest that they form a monophyletic lineage with the Sinibotia genus. Possible move may be in line. I must admit, from the day they where recognized as part of the Yashuhikotakia genus, my personal feelings where that the identifications was a little off.

I'd be interested to know if anything more definite has been reported. Last I heard was that there was around a 96% chance that Y. sidthimunki & Y. nigrolineata would be reclassified as Sinibotia species.

Hey all,

Havent been around in a while. I am at Clemson University doing research in Genetics for the next 9 weeks and will have more time to visit the forum.

Out of curiousity, from where was the source that said nigrolineata and sidthimunki would be reclassified as Sinibotia?

I dont agree with nor recognize Kottelats reclassification and still refer to these as Botia. He did not provide substantial evidence nor a convincing argument as to why they were renamed.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

There was a recent paper on this: Slechtova V, Bohlen J, Freyhof J and P Rab (2006) - Molecular Phylogeny of the Southeast Asian Freshwater Fish Family Botiidae and the Origin of Polyploidy in their Evolution. (Molecular Phylogenetics & Evolution 39 (2006) 529-541).

I was hoping you'd have a copy!

I usually try to file all my loach PDFs together, but can't see what I've done with that one.

I'm not the most organised person in the world, so it is probably on here somewhere but at the moment I just can't find it. Maybe Martin or Mark has a copy?
