Will the equipment area on the left have a left or right hinged door?

What was your reasoning behind not having a horizontally hinged access door to the area under the bottom tank?

There is room for two of the old style fluval filters.

On friday night I filled the bottom tank. with substrate and water, then added lynne's goldfish tank, again added the substate and water, but it started to leak so quickly emptied it. Then I noticed the bottom tank was leeking also, soquikly emptied it to.
Sataurdy morning checked out bottom tank and found a big crack along the bottom.
So feeling a little bit down at the moment, back to the drawing board.

As I said you did one "h....l" of a job on this.

Please bear with me as Tristan does with these off the wall ideas here.

I am nowhere even close to a finish carpenter. As I indicated if I would have tried this it would appear as if it had been retrieved from the San Angelo Municipal Landfill and had subsequently been painted black.

Two Items

One

Based on an ordeal I got into when remodeling the home in which I how reside and on your finish carpentering skills I believe that you can still retrofit double swing doors along the bottom for access.

As your tanks are dry you can also laminate plywood with formica and place it under the bottom:
1) This will significantly increase the support capacity of your base and
2) Allow for significant storage.

In addition you could add a double hinged door at the right end of the cabinet and add a long yet shallow wet dry for additional filtration in addition to your canister filers.

I do not have the hydraulics "figured out yet" but if you are interested in pursuing this option please let me know.

Based on my limited experience with a high end eheim cannisters are very high flow but only with limited head loss.

I have not yet fabricated a tank but I have done a ton of research as well a having a very good grasp, via education of stress and strain implications for a tank.

If you have questions with respect to these issues please advise me.

It may be worth getting fancy goldfish instead of commons. Fancy's are smaller and slower fish.
A tank without loaches, just how do you survive?
Mind you i have my biggest tank without a trace of a loach.

In the lower tank on the right top of the tank appears to be tee shaped supporting members for an acrylic top.

What is this?
