Excuses, Excuses

Post by grizzlyone » Thu Feb 07, 2008 5:13 pm

Even though I haven't moved yet, the local Aquarium Adventure is having a 50% livestock/plant sale this weekend.

They have sids for $14 regularly, so this will bring them in about the $7 range, so even though I've not moved and put up the new tank(s) I'm going to grab them and keep them until the move.

No question here, I've just given in again to the loach collective and going to spend more of my hard earned money...lol.

Way to go! I wish I could find these little puppies @ $7! Unfortunately $20 is more common. This severely limits the size of the school.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!

That sounds like a great deal!!!
You'll probably never find them that cheap again.
I have been to two Aquarium Adventure stores, one in Cleveland (lousy) and one in Columbus (very nice). The one in Columbus, Ohio had some very nice fish, I even bought some devario sondhii, but had few loaches.
How is your store?
I heard they are opening another store in the Chicago area.
The south side, I believe.

Its actually pretty good. They just opened a second store in Bollingbrook, which is south of chicago, almost to Joliet.

The sale is national I think, from Feb 9th to the 17. They are having a trade in of HOB filters tomorrow and you get a comparable Aquaclear for free....

I got a flyer.

In addition to the 50% off livestock and plants, starting at 11AM tomorrow, you bring in a HOB in any condition and they'll replace it with a new one till they run out....

Also, they are having a $1/gal for glass tanks up to 90, $2/gal 90 and above. Just includes the tanks.

That's quite a deal.
By the way, does that store have any cool hillstreams?
Neither of the ones I visited did.

Jim:

Thats where I got the big honking Beaufortia that I showed doing the almond leaf mambo in a previous post.

There have also been some smaller contaminants in there too. I'm going to try to pick up whatever they have left of those too...they are like $6.50 normally, so $3.25 each for what they call "Borneo Suckers" during the sale.

Jim - I am surpised of your comments, the AA in columbus has more loaches than any lfs I've personally seen (not that I've been in very many though of course), I've never seen a triangularis, rubidipinnis, or even striata at another lfs but seen them all there. And up until the last time I was in they had a large group of sids, and hillstreams too (not sure which kind). Heading there tomorrow for the big sale!

If anyone needs a tank its hard to beat 75g for $75 or 210 for $420! (new of course).

Well, I have only been there once, on my way back from Cleveland in November of last year. They had a wide variety of cool danios, barbs and other dithers, but the only loaches I saw were clowns, a schistura species and sids.
I have actually thought about taking a road trip (its four hours one way) to check it out again. I guess this weekend would have been good if for nothing more than the sale.

Youll have to let me know if you decide to take a trip up... maybe we could meet up there or something, or anyone else that might be interested from l.o.l. of course  .

Their loaches come and go. Several of the more rare ones I've only seen once or twice and never again. But they can order stuff to. BTW the only other lfs I've seen carry a loach that AA hasnt is Jack's which is on the NE side of town. They have been carrying Dario their lately. I'm thinking of including them in my 240g, but franks (online) has em so cheap along with others, that I'd probably mail order.
