I'm a novice in the world of loaches. Please help me in identifying the ones I have:
On the second picture the loaches on top and on the bottom are B. almorhae. Am I right? But I can't identify the one in the middle, I hope you'll kindly help me
All loaches are about 4 cm long.
I'd agree with Rocco. Those are Botia histrionica, and very nice ones too! Every so often we see strange patterns on many of the bottid loaches, such as the middle one in your pic. Here is our profile on them: http://www.loaches.com/species-index/botia-histronica.
Rocco, Emma - thanks for your help)
So, my little guys are Botia histrionica. What a surprise - I bought them as Almorhae ))).
Yesterday I noticed that the middle one's markings (with vertical stripes) started to change, so I think I'll wait for a month or so, and then ask to ID my loaches again.
)))
i'm still not sure, my instant thought on pic 2 was a histrionica in the middle and the others almorhae.
i got a group of young almorhae awhile back and there's 3 that look similar to the pic.
and i'm positive they are almorhae, once i find a pic i'll put it up to compare.
sorry to confuse matters Maire.
hybrids Helen, i'm going to ask the guy at the shop i bought these are they importing from the Hybrid Republic.
he's a good lad and if he knows he'll tell me.
