I should have listened to Jim earlier! (lots of pics)

Jim has always said how his hillstream loaches enjoy Tetra's Gel Delicia foods, but for some reason it has taken me until now to try it out on my river tank inhabitants.

I took out a couple of cobbles last night and smeared some of the brineshrimp version onto the stones and put them back. I had no idea it would create such a mad feeding frenzy! I quickly went and washed my hands and grabbed the camera. Hope you enjoy the action!

The Red Crystal shrimp wanted their fair share too!




This is the largest of the Sewellia sp. 'spotted' fry I have. It's about 1.75" TL now.


This baby Spotty has much lighter pigmentation than is usual. It will be interesting to see how it develops.




This food even bought one of my L046 Zebra plecs out into the open under the main lights, which is most unusual! He did eat some of the food, but I could not catch him at it on camera.


Not only did the fish enjoy the food immensely, I really enjoyed watching them! Smearing the gel onto cobbles near the front of the tank resulted in some great photo opportunities.

I didn't expect them to go so crazy over the stuff right away.
And look at all the cool pics managed to take. I guess you know how to get them all out in the open now.
By the way, my unknown hillie doesn't come out and feed on Delica gel like that.

They do brineshrimp, daphnia & bloodworm versions. Unfortunately, Jim says it has been discontinued in the US, but we as far as we know, there are no plans to discontinue it here.

Ashleigh - I have 2 male L046's and am hoping to get a female or two off a breeder this summer. Then I'd like to try breeding them myself.

When it was available here in the US, I was paying from $4-$7 per box.
Actually, you can still get the bloodworm version being sold as ReptoTreat delica bloodworms for Aquatic frogs and newts. The problem is, the bloodworm version does not spread as well as the daphnia and brine shrimp version and tends to clump.

I think one of the other great things about this Tetra gel food is that it comes in little sachets (16 per box) so it's not like you are opening up one big pot of food and have to use it up really quickly after opening. One sachet went surprisingly far.

No, but it did come in as a contaminant with a batch of A. normani.
