pretty fish.

Do you think there are issues with gravid females not having a male around?

I've noticed with my 2 female bettas not dropping their eggs and eventually die from dropsy. But that case could be purely coincidental.

maybe a male from another botia species could stimulate her and create some hybrids :)

thanks all,
Emma i know piggy has a few, maybe he'll give us a couple.

mistergreen. how could you, hybridize indeed, i'll leave that up to the pillocks of the hobby.
i don't know about loaches getting eggbound, maybe the more experienced of the group could answer that one.
anabantids ive found are prone to getting eggbound with the absence of a male, ive had a few barb sp go down to dropsy through being eggbound.

can you get to the shop on 26th June? then you can meet some of us nutters, as well as getting tempted by too many fish.

Emma's shop has a big stock tank with lots of syncrossus species and other grumpies like skunks. they always make me want a grrr tank

i'll have to see if Andy can loan me one of his males, if he has any.
this girl is very well behaved in the tank, i think the other botias know not to mess around with her.

Hey Mick....*snaP* Lovely looking gal.

Out of my 8 Syncrossus berdmorei i have two females which are regularly Gravid. Here she is looking a knackered after some males harassed her, nothing seen in the filters but i often see some tubby looking Loaches shortly after.
