i took these three pics earlier to show how keen loaches are for bloodworms plus the barbs.



i don't know if any of you have been bit by a 6+ inch botia but i can tell you it give me a shock at how hard they can bite.

Mick, are you telling me that Botia kubotai is 6 inches?:shock: Gulp.. Been bitten by 5-inch tiger loaches and those were hard bites.

Great pics and BEAUTIFUL Loaches! In the second pic, what are the two that aren't Kubotai? Big one top left with his head buried in the feed and one far right pointing down. Lovely markings!! I'd like to see more of them.

Blue. yes that fish is just over 6 inches SL bud and thats the bugger who always gets my fingers.

plaalyle. yes they have the full block of blood worms, it's gone in 15 mins normally.
don't forget that they don't get fed every day i give them rest days from food at least twice a week.
and the tw0 botias i think you mean are histrionicas bud.

Lovely greedy Botias Mick, and I like the barbs and Pristolepis too. What´s the species in the top right of the first pic and bottom right of the third? Such a sleek looking fish! Did all the new boys settle in alright by the way?

yup all the new fish are doing fine bud.
those barbs are a poropuntius sp first bred by kamphol, according to what he said they only get to 6 inch max, Neil had some when you were there they look better the longer you have them and they are totally inoffensive in their habits.
are you in Spain yet bud?.

Hmm well I was trying hard to not look at any fish that day as you know! They´re beautiful mate. I´m here in Barcelona yep, been running around sorting out a place to live/official documents and other assorted stuff this week but things should hopefully start to be a bit more fun from now on!

What type of bloodworm is that? Frozen? Never seen a sheet? of bloodworm. I'm fascinated!

it's frozen David, i get it from a mate by the box it works out alot cheaper this way.
i think my mate said they were called choc-blocks or based on a bar of chocolate.
you can also buy kilo blocks, why can you only get blister packs?.
