I recognise some 'old faces' there!

- that Aborichthys elongatus in particular is looking stunning.

I see you've also opted for the black sand, similar to my River Tank - the fish's colours look really good against that. Your Aborichthys obviously enjoy making their burrows in it too.

Cheers, Emma and Jim. Yeah i've been pondering on which substrate to go with this time. I suppose it was a time for change. There's two 35gal river tanks that carry the same theme.

I may have to give that color gravel a try next time I set up a tank. Mine tend to be various mixes of the same colors with each tank having its own particular mix. My river tanks mimic the gravel in a favorite trout stream of mine. But this black gravel is very interesting... and different

It is indeed interesting, Jim. I can even see the loaches much better when the lights are off and I'm sitting watching them with just a small lamp light on. No doubt, there will be more attempts with my camera.

I really like that substrate you have, I am getting a new 75 gal, and i was going to put white substrate in there but now im leaning towards the black.

With the dark substrate you do have different visuals.

I am hestitant because I think the food I feed them would show up and make it look messy and I dont think I can find that beautifully smooth small black gravel that you have there.
