Garra ID?

Post by plaalye »

Hi folks. These showed up at the LFS labeled as "Indian redtailed Garra"- garra Khasi. I've found a few pics of garra Khasi and they don't match at all. Doesn't really look like a garra at all to me but I have no experience with them. Pics are poor but they were really skittish. What do they look like to you?Image

Looks like one of the schisturas to me. Not sure of the species.

Yep, definitely not a Garra species. They remind me of these little chaps that came in under the Schistura cf. dorsizona nametag not so long ago: http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=12322.

I'd say that's them Emma, thanks for the link. I also noticed that iridescent line. Did you confirm them as S. dorsizona? Any further observations in behavior and such?

Nothing was ever confirmed, although the same supplier is still currently selling them under the Schistura cf. dorsizona nametag (cf. meaning 'compare with', not 'the same as'). I have a feeling we have either sold all or most of them, so unfortunatley have no further details to add on behaviour, sorry.

Thanks, and thanks for explaining "cf", I knew it was something like that but not sure what.
