Japanese Loach

Post by odyssey »

Nice to meet you it is ODYSSEY of the living in Japan.
It is contributed the beginning in this forum.
Thanks in advance for your help.
There might sometimes be a misunderstanding because my English language skill is poor.

In the beginning, I will introduce a kind of the loach in Japan.
The scientific name is Niwaella delicata
It is a Japanese endemic species. They assume algae to be staple food.
I pronounce it "ajime_dojou" in Japanese.
It is a meaning called a tasty loach.
It is said to be the most delicious in loachs inhabiting Japan.

(1) Niwaella delicata

I chiefly keep fish who make algae staple food.
Additionally, I keep Gastromyzon, Pseudogastromyzon, Sinogastromyzon, Beaufortia , and Stiphodon etc.
Because I have the huge photograph taken with the digital camera, it is made to massage for the occasional introduction.

(4) G_scitulus & G_ocellatus and Niwaella delicata

(5) Moment when Pseudogastromyzon cheni kicks about Stiphodon percnopterygionus and Niwaella delicata

Wonderful pictures of very nice fish, odyssey. Thanks for posting.

Do you have information about Stiphodon? I have a few kinds, but don´t know there name. They are not as colorful as yours (some are like the very right one on your last picture). I have searched the net a lot, including some great japanese sites but can not see the difference between male and female, except the first dorsal - perhaps...

Best regards from Germany
