75 Gal Loach selection

Post by Piyush »

I am setting up 75 gallon, 4 ft, tank and wanting to keep about 10 khuli loaches in it. I also want to keep clowns, and wondering how many I can keep in a 75 gallon tank. The tank will also have some smaller dither fish. Its going to be planted.

i know clowns are the in fish but if you went for a combination of indian botia species they would be as entertaining as the clown but will stay at a smaller adult size.
botia's i think would look as good in your tank are, striata, kubotai, dario, and almorhae.

Thanks, how many of them can I keep. I am torn between all of them wanting to be in groups, and feeling that I might overload the tank...

Edit: I had 8 khulis and 5 yoyos in a 25 gallon tank before, and they were very happy

if your filters up for it, i reckon you could have at least 4 of each of those species and also if you give them plenty of hideouts.
ime when any of these fish are young it's very rare that they are not out in the open but as they get bigger thats when they retreat to their hideouts.

I had Clowns in a 4' long tank and they really did not use the upper half (2' tall).
Whenever possible, go for longer, somewhat shallow tanks for bottom dwellers. There is a LOT more bottom for them.

Ditto the above post: The medium and smaller Loaches will be fine there. Plenty of caves, driftwood and so on...
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!
