Since I am still waiting for my large tank to arrive, I purchased a webcam (Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000) and took some video.

Watching the loaches from another room via the web cam is surprisingly different than watching them in the same room. When in the room, they know I'm in the room and it affects their behavior. Via the webcam, I have seen the kubs do a lot of playful chasing of each other which I have only seen occasionally when in the room.

When the master is away the loaches will play.

The fish look great. I like how they jump into the flow of the powerhead.

I've read that the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 is good in low light environments. How do you think it rates?

Superb, Keith! They are certainly enjoying that flow.

A couple of years ago, my brother gave me a webcam for part of my Christmas present, and I still haven't done anything with it. I have absolutely no intention for using it for what it was intended for, so have been thinking about a 'Marge cam' for a while. I'll have to look into how to set it up at some point, just got too much going on at the moment to think about it right now.

Sea Sprite- I have 4 Tunze pumps pushing 8,000 gallons per hour and two canister filters adding 700 gallons per hour in a 75 gallon tank. I only run the two big Tunze 6130 pumps part of each day since they generate too much heat. They will be moved to a larger tank when I get it. The loaches love all of that current and always come out and play when I turn them on.

Chefkeith- It is pretty good in low light, but not good enough for my moon lights. But my moon lights are pretty dark and I plan to upgrade to something a little brighter and I think I will be able to see some activity with the webcam then.

Great video. Shows how relaxed the fish enjoy the nice flow. I whatched it a couple of times ...

I am often wondering what it would take to install a webcam to take automatic pictures, taken every 3 or 5 hours or possibly being able to look at the tank online from a different place - to check if the important functions are up and running.

Erik- The 340 gallon (google says 1287 liters) tank has been built and is being delivered. I should get it at the end of this week or early next week.

Wolfram- I bought the webcam so that I could set it up and be able to see my tank from any internet connection. Thus, I will be able to monitor it when I am out of town. Right now I can only see it from the next room, but I will figure out how to set up a server. I will be glad to share any info that I come up with for how to do this. Also, if others have already done it, I am interested.
