Help me identify this loach please.

Post by malfunkshun »

Hi!
Just found this forum and it seems like this is the right place for questions about loaches

Found this little fish att my LFS in a tank with Garra cambodgiensis and some other Garra types.
I got it for the same price as the other Garra because no one at the shop knew what it was and how it got there.
I think it's some sort of Schistura but not sure, any ideas?

Characters?

Post by Schmerlenotto »

Hello,

on what characters is based the identification as Schistura robertsi?
At least two dozens of Schistura "looks" at a first glance like this specimen.

I'll say, it's almots impossible to identifity a Schistura without locality data and preserved material, when the result should be scientific serious.

Sincerely,
Gerhard

It looks very much like a Shistura robertsi. Same black spot on the dorsal fin and the black marking just befor the caudal fin. The markings and colour looks right also.
