Excellent pictures. I agree with Jim. You can see the Horizontal lines starting to develop along the lateral line.

Update 25/07/2006.

I visited my parents over the weekend, and they were kind enough to lend me their camera whilst I get mine fixed. Theirs has about the same number of megapixels as my model, but nowhere near as much zoom - hence when I cropped these pics, the quality is slightly lower. Not bad for a first attempt with a different camera though!

Graham, the assistant-manager at our shop very kindly popped in and checked on and fed the little ones when we were away. :D

Here's the pics....

There's a bit of a snail population explosion going on at the moment. I did take loads out today, but you'll have to excuse the ones that crept into the photos.

Looking fantastic! Looks like they're really starting to take on their adult shape now.

Emma very kindly showed me her babies on Wednesday. seeing them in real life puts in perspective just how good these photos are. they are sooo small and when Emma said they "mini scuttle", she didnt say quite how fast they scuttle! they really are quite amazing :D and definately very cute.

thanks Emma!

Update 29/07/2006.

The little ones are still doing great, and now measure up at 20mm TL. :D

I managed to get quite a few photos today, and whilst watching them move around, it is evident that they have quite dramatic colour change abilities, something which I've not really seen in the adult fish. For instance, when one has been resting on the back glass for some time (where the background is solid black - it used to be my photo tank) and then the fish moves to the light coloured substrate, the fish appears almost completely jet black for a moment, almost to a point where you can't see any of it's markings. Then it quickly changes to a lighter shade. I did take a picture of a dark fish, but unfortunately it was completely out-of-focus. But, I thought this was an interesting point as it obviously serves as a means of camouflage for them.

I'm sorry, mamaschild! I usually upload to Coppermine and there seems to be a problem with it at the moment. :( I've got some nice photos from today and will put them up as soon as Coppermine is back up.
