These two pics show the fry in 'dark colouration' mode (which I was mentioned in one of my other posts). The longer they have been resting on the back glass where there is a black background, the darker they become:




Fairly dark colouration adopted when resting on the dark grey heater guard too:

Here's today's update, 07/08/2006:





A dark coloured specimen that had again been resting on the black background for some time:


A light coloured specimen that had been resting on the side glass where it sits against the pine unit (that this temporary tank is sitting on):








I managed to get a 45 second video clip of one of these little loaches moving about, but am not sure how I go about posting it. I registered with the google free video upload, but it got half way through uploading and then it crashed. Any ideas on if I'm doing this right, or where else I can try to upload for free. It's in JPEG format and is 23.9MB.

I see some yellow!!!

Fabulous! I sneaked a peak at yesterdays pics because I was in the Coppermine. Today's are even better. Amazing detail!
I've noticed yellow tinges for a while now. What i am intrigued about is the development of the 3 lateral stripes, plus the dorsal and caudal banding. At present, they don't have the same number of fin bands as adults.

Hi Emma,

I assume you are using windows so this may help you with the video. One of the tech gossip pages i tend to waste time on had a recent article on video converter software.

It can be downloaded from http://www.erightsoft.net/ this site is fairly horrific to navigate, lots of java script making a direct link impossible to post. I found a download link right at the bottom of the claimed 'download page' which was filled with a tutorial.

After seeing the site i'm not sure i want to recomend this, I have not used the software and am not affiliated with them in any way.

I hope this is of some help to you because i'd love to see these guys in action.

I have uploaded the video clip to Photobucket, although it does seem to have lost some of it's sharpness in doing so. Please remember that this is my first ever attempt as using the 'video' option on my parents camera (my camera is with Nikon, being repaired) so it is not what you'd call brilliant!
