That yoyo reminds me of some of those Czech hybrids that were seen a while back...

I'm glad you said it first Dave, it just does'nt look right for an almorhae, and the kubs to me look more like histrionica than kubotai?.

Very nice photos!!

Interesting markings both on the Yoyo and kubs. The markings on the Yoyo are very delicate, almost like calligraphy. The kubs do look a lot like Histrionica, except that the black markings are a little wider and more wavy in yours than in most Histrionica. It will be interesting to see how they develop as they grow.

You may also want to check the species index here for Botia rostrata and Emperor Botia, which are also possibilities for the ID of your Loaches. At this point, it almost looks like they're a cross between Histrionica and Rostrata.

I really like that yoyo, the markings are really neat. I wonder if when it is bigger if it will take on the more reticulated pattern or not. It kinda reminds me of my alpha male who does not have the reticulation.

I thought histi at first too but the bands are starting to stretch out laterally. In a really young fish it wouldn't be surprising but they do seem quite large to still have that juvenile kub pattern. Dunno. It's like we were saying in Peterborough the other week, sometimes the overlaps in that complex are impossible to distinguish.
