Wow Mick! She was a beauty! Very fit and powerful looking.
Is that a "show bench" she is pictured in? I didn't know you guys had competitions too! I'm going to have to sneak over there and doing some spying around and see what all you guys really have going on over there!

I'll have to suffer through on the local grub, but it will be worth it.

it's dwindling now, but in the 70s you could see as many as 1500 to 2000 fish on the benches now your lucky if there's 4 to 500 and i think it's the same around the country.
hey man there's nowt wrong with the grub, fish&chips, pie & chips what more could you ask for.
mick
btw no mate that was'nt on the bench it was just after she'd been and she got another card to her list.
me and Mark have come to the same conclusion over shows though.
it don't half cut the lifespan of your fish down.
weve both retired from showing now through that. it's far better to take a pic and show it you lot.

"Almorhore"! - I hope you clobbered 'em!!
That's pretty cool!
I can see that showing would put a lot of stress on them, and the internet really makes it unnecessary. Would stress me out and shorten my life too, trying to get them packed up and back home again!
Could be time for and "Official" LOL photo box and tape measure. Neutral dark grey background for correct color, tape across the bottom and a spot for copyright. Less stress - Official results!

That does sound like a headache!! I couldn't take it. I stress out (a lot!) just trying to get them home from the store.mickthefish wrote:i know mate, thems numpty's are judges.![]()
i used to take a minimum of 25 fish to a show and up to 50 or 60 if it was fairly local. big headache mate.
i would'nt want to put any more work on the mods about showing on line, as i think they do a great job as it is.![]()

I have to agree with your thoughts on the photos - half the pleasure is getting to see everyones tanks as well as the fish themselves. Great for theivin' ideas.

Nice pic's Mick, I have to admit that after showing for so many years I now realise how stressed the fish got when showing week in week out I dont think I could ever go back to it now even though I have fish that would walk some of the classes now
I might have to have a rummage in the loft and see if I can find my Supreme Champion and Champion of Champion's cards I got with my sidthiumki

Was the room cleared so the judges could pull the bribes out from under the ID tags??mickthefish wrote:never got CofC winner always close with seconds and thirds though Mark.
never went down south showing though, don't agree that the room is cleared but for the judges.
the jocks do it that way as well. ugh.

When you guys do these shows, whose water is used? What's the setup on all that for aeration and water quality? Self contained for each fish, or are they sharing common water on those benches with possible cross contamination issues?? - Just curious, no plans on showing.
