Some loach pictures from the FBAS show at Port Talbot today.

I went to my first show today as there was one reasonably local to me in Port Talbot (South Wales). There were some lovely specimens there, unfortunately, my camera skills doesn't capture them at their best.

The last picture isn't a loach of course but, there hardly seems any point doing a new thread for one pic :)

Some real beauties there! That modesta is a BEAST! The best of show is amazing! Doesn't someone here have one similar? Looks familiar??

i recognise the histrionica bully, thats john egans fish as i'll bet are a few of the loaches his.
John is a real gentleman.
he buys a lot of his show stock from Pier Aquatics mate, you should get up and see us.

The B. histrionica was a pure pleasure to see, photos simply cannot do it justice. I'm working on get up to you Mick, working hard on it :)

I didn't meet John Egan but he also got best in show with a Characin that was also impressive but, it was the loaches that impressed me the most, some of which I haven't seen in shops around me :) The Y. cruciatus took first and second in the loaches category.

Those are really exceptional fish but it kills me seeing them kept in those little boxes.

Dave and Val i sort of agree and disgree as i used to be a showman as was Mad Duff.
in all the years showing i only ever lost one fish through it as there was a huge drop in temperature the day of the show and it was a 3 hr journey back home , there's two kinds of showman one that grow young stock on to be showfish or the bums who will go anywhere in the country and pay top prices for a ready made showfish that don't really care about the fish just the kudos of being top showperson.
i still go to shows and love seeing so many great fish on the bench but i don't bother any more.

ps, Bully i've got a pic of the histrionica taken at BAF where it got second in champion of champions but john got the top prize with a cichlid that time.
once i find the pic i'll post it on this thread to see if it's changed in any way.

Amazing fish! The prospect of finding something like that is what keeps me excited and visiting all the shops that I can.
