My Rescued Sid.

At the beginning of last month I spotted a waif of a Sid. swimming away from the other 8 that were in the LFS stock tank. In fact, it was shadowing a stray Scissortail Rasbora and kept nipping at the Rasbora's caudal. I asked the manager how much for the waif and was told I could take it for free (I have a good rapport with this store).

So, here's the fish acclimating to go into the quarantine tank just after getting it home.....you can see how undernourished it is.

I was a little concerned about internal parasites etc., but, didn't treat prophylacticlly as I wanted to be sure first. It took a day or two to encourage it to feed using live bloodworm and brineshimp, but eventually the fish soon got the idea and started to take prepared foods too.

Here's the fish after 12 days in the quarantine tank.

And, here's the fish after approx. 10 days in the main tank.

I was really pleased to see it instantly accepted by the other 13 Sids. in the main tank and the fish has now constantly got a good belly

you did a great job -I doubt he would have lived much longer in the store tank and now he'll have a good life in your tank. Nothing like a great rescue story!

Wow that was fast! I had a couple tiny thin sids but it took a while for them to grow & fill out.

It's got a way to go yet until it is the same length, and girth as the rest of the Sids. in the tank, I am nonetheless happy with its progress. I do 40% water changes on the tanks every 4 days and feed heavily 3 times a day with a mixture of live, frozen and prepared foods.
