Ringed Loach? Please ID

Post by KillaGuppy »

Hi all,
Just joined the forums.

I bought a loach from my local LFS today. It was labeled Ringed Loach, but that doesn't seem to be a common name for any of the loaches.

It looks a lot like a Longischistura striata or Schistura beavani (Creek Loach). I can try taking a picture later.

But I'm thinking that I've made a terrible mistake. First off, it's going into a highly populated 5 1/2 gallon tank.

Second, will it eat my Assassin Snail and Cherry Shrimp?

Third, is it going to get territorial on my 3 Corydoras pygmaeus (Pygmy Cory Cats).

The tanks is heavily planted, so I have no idea how I'm going to get him out. He's pretty quick.

Or will he be okay in there? On the plus side, there's lots of current in the tank.

A 5 1/2 gallon tank seems small for this fish, especially since you say its crowded. I had three in a 10 gallon tank and they did fine, but I don't think I would go smaller than that.

Can anyone confirm what kind of loach this is?
