Please help me identify my loach

Post by silvia »

Hello, I am trying to find a good home for my presumed YoYo loach (see: http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22806), however, I'm having a tough time because there's some debate as to whether or not she is actually a YoYo. She is a mature fish, I've had her for 10+ years. I bought her in a group of 6, and their markings definitely changed over the years but I don't have any pictures from back then. She is the last one left and I want her to be with her own species again.

She is completely reticulated, all the way down including her tail. She has some horizontal markings on the body between head and dorsal fin, some horizontal markings on her dorsal, and does not have any vertical stripes or markings. Just spotted/reticulated and more horizontal lines than vertical.

I have looked extensively through the species index on this site and think she is either a YoYo or perhaps a Botia Rostrata. Can you help me identify her?

I don't know how to upload a photo to this forum, but I do have a photo of her. If someone could tell me how to post a picture to this forum I would be happy to do that.

Thanks so much for your help!

Thank you so much! I would never have thought of that.

Here's a photo, let me know if I need to take some better ones.

That might just be a Botia rostrata or just a unusually marked yoyo
