Clowns, yoyos and queen botias together

Post by yellowsub9 » Sun Feb 26, 2012 2:31 am

I have a 125 gal with about 25 clowns and 6 yoyos all about (5 in.) (Rainbows and barbs as dithers) - If i introduce 3 Queens (3 in) do you think it would be okay? I have plenty of caves, tubes and hiding places. Just a bit concerned...
Thanks! Jim

If you are talking about the Botia dario. There should be no problem keeping them with clowns and yoyos.

The above article says they can get to 6", but that has not been my experience. Mine (seven) are only about 3" after 3 and a half years. But, that may be because I have them in a 75 with Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki (sids) and Botia striata (Zebra loach).

Welcome to the forum and Good luck.

Thanks bookpage! I noticed you have a group of skunk botias - never seen any in this area - where did you get yours?

LFS in Waco, TX gets them in once or twice a year. Not many people want loaches, but she orders some for me every now and then.

Every once in a while you can find them on http://www.aquabid.com. I have order many fish from aquabid.com and been happy with 99% of them.

I agree: Clowns, Yoyos and Darios (queens) make good company. I have kept them together for years, and I have had loaches as small as 1 inch with loaches as large as 6" -- mixed species -- as long as the personalities are compatible.
