Does anyone know a lot about these and whether I can keep them in the same tank as Yoyos or Kubotais? I am planning to exchange them for the store's yoyos (they were out of stock today) or run to Petsmart to get their Kubotais. Thanks!

ID this loach please?
I went to my LFS to buy Botia kubotai (Angelicus loach) or Botia lochata (Yoyo loach) today and I bought 3 "polka-dot loaches". They are very small (pics coming soon, after they are acclimated.) I knew that the kubotai also went by polka-dot loach and I just assumed that they were small because they were babies/juveniles. I came back home and did a lot of Google searching... Turns out they are Schistura corica or Schistura geisleri Does anyone know a lot about these and whether I can keep them in the same tank as Yoyos or Kubotais? I am planning to exchange them for the store's yoyos (they were out of stock today) or run to Petsmart to get their Kubotais.

Yes, I did. I just took some photos and I'll see which Schistura I got. One of them is too territorial to shoal and the other seems fine? Pics being uploaded right now

Of the two, I would say most likely geisleri, but I'm not 100% sure.
I think you could keep them with the botias provided there are enough hiding places. They are best suited for a more hillstream like tank, though.

OK, I think I will call the LFS and ask for an exchange for yoyos once they get them in. Was so set on getting some kubotai though

I managed to get an exchange for store credit, but the store is really far away. I guess it'll be worth the trip to make my tank the way it's suppose to be.

It would be nice if you had the room. The small schistura species like corica, geisleri, and beavani are fun to keep. They make a great addition to a small tank with good flow and lots of cover.

Yeah, they do seem really playful! It's just that I have my heart set on getting yoyos and/or angelicus loaches I'm afraid they will get bullied unless I can be assured otherwise. I'm really trying to avoid the long trip to the petstore today because I need to study for my exams next week.

Update:
I ended up returning them for store credit. By some stroke of luck, they had one lonely yoyo loach in their puffer tank (which might have been brackish
) and I quickly purchased him/her. The yoyo is alone in the tank for now, and I'll be adding some friends in about a month. He is absolutely loving the hidey caves and driftwood! It makes me so happy to have him!
