Fins turning white

Post by atmichaels »

This is a new one on me. One of my panda loaches has normally clear fins that have turned white. Anyone seen this before?

My best guess is a bacterial infection similar to what causes fin rot in poorly kept bettas. He's in a hospital tank and I'm treating with minocycline and monitoring closely.

There was no change in his condition using the recommended protocols for minocycline. I kept him in the hospital tank without treatment (other than daily water changes) for an additional two weeks and then treated with amoxicillin. After 4 days of amoxicillin his fins began to clear and were completely returned to normal by day 8.
