All but one, dead

Three of my weather loaches died last night. The one I JUST got jumped out and I found him dried up behind my tank. The other two were lost to the final stages of ich(sorry, my dad's friend knows fish and he explained it was fungus, but it was ich). I have one weather loach left, and since he's alone I'm moving him into my baby brother's 55 gallon with four goldfish, a tinfoil barb, and a crayfish until it's tank is done being quarentined and cleaned.


Thanks for everyone's help, but I give up on loaches. I'm just a kid and dealing with all this high-priced medicine and buying everything is too much.

Another question, will my crayfish be safe with my loach for a bit? It's a fan feeder and usually hides, but still.

Id need to see a pic of the craw. Odds are yes, short term, provided enough food and hiding spots where the loach wouldnt get it while molting which seems impossible...

please please please don't put your loach into the other tank. There is a very very strong chance he is carrying whatever killed your other fish and it would be a terrible shame to infect your brother's fish...

put him in a bucket full of tank water while you strip and clean the tank and filter, he will be fine for an hour or so. put him back into the tank when it is clean and squeeze out the filter sponge from your btother's tank into this tank before you put the loach back in. net him out of the bucket, btw; don;t put any of the old water back. scald the bucket out with boiling water afterwards.

don't, I repeat DON'T, put him in with other fish.

if your dad's friend knows fish I'd be surprised if he confused fungus and ich. detailed description? photos?

Sophie is absolutely right. No point to endanger more fish.

Let me make one more suggestion: you decide if you give up or not; I hope you don't. But be more prepared the next time: find a way of borrowing a camera so you can post photos, and make sure you have all the water tests. If you provide detailed information on a problem before it becomes serious, there are very good chances that someone can help you.

Neither fungus nor ich needs to be fatal if you diagnose in time and treat properly!
